WHY SHOULD I SEE A CONSULTANT TRICHOLOGIST?

A qualified consultant trichologist is hair and scalp specialist. Your hair is an excellent barometer of your overall health therefore, Trichologists take a holistic approach when diagnosing and treating your hair and scalp problems. We understand the psychological impact of hair loss which can often be underestimated by GP’s and other medical professionals. An initial consultation with a Trichologist usually takes around one hour, this allows us to get a very in depth understanding of your concerns enabling us to reach a diagnosis. In a busy GP practice the average appointment time is just ten minutes.

IS TRICHOLOGY COVERED BY PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE?

Most private health insurance companies will not cover Trichology, it is therefore recommended you contact your insurance provider directly to check. If your health insurance does agree to cover your appointment costs you will be required to pay the consultation fee in full at the time of your appointment. We will provide you with a receipt and you will be responsible for making the claim to your insurance provider.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

It is not necessary to be referred by your GP and you can book an appointment with us directly. We do try to work with your GP where it is necessary to achieve the best outcome for you as the patient. (We will only contact GP with your prior consent)

Is a Trichologist a Doctor?

Katrina is not a medically qualified doctor, but she is medically trained in all aspects pertaining to hair and scalp health.

Can I bring someone along with me to my consultation?
